Hello, hello my old friends, I have not forgotten you!

So tumblr is a thing and it's amazing! :) I love the fact that I can find so many of my favorite categories simply by browsing a bunch of blogs! I definitely recommend it! Secondly, Stumble Upon... pros and cons? Let me know as I am considering one! Thirdly, I've been super busy with exams and classes so I apologize for not posting in some time. I'm nearing graduation though! YAY!!!

ALSO Halloween is almost here!! I have some plans and what about you!? What are you going to dress up as!? Personally, I want to do something related to Alice in Wonderland! Perhaps Miss Mad Hatter! Or Alice from Alice Madness! Or maybe the Cheshire cat!  Oh and I want an Unbirthday Cake! #AliceObsessed

What have you all been up to!?

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Hello, I'm Autumn! :)

So it's been a little bit since i've posted and I apologize, but sometimes life just seems to get busy! The good news is I have a new blog post for you! YAY! :)

This is some crafty things to do in the fall!
First, Pumpkin Carving! And what's not to love about this nifty little art. Not to mention you can turn it into a jack-o-lantern and light up the night! And if you are in RI, or nearby you should totally check out the Roger Williams Park event, PUMPKIN SPOOKTACULAR! It's breathtaking!

Here's the link for more details:
http://rwpzoo.org/178/jack-o-lantern-spectacular

Second, Fall Leaf Flowers! This one is simple, and fun. First go outside and grab some leaves! Then wrap them around each other until you make a flower shape! Then secure them with a stem made of duct tape! They are pretty and they smell nice!

Third, Creature Masks! With Halloween just around the corner these are fun and bring out the imaginative side. Simply blow up a balloon to the size of your head. Then wrap the balloon with strips of paper mache. I suggest going around it three times so that there are a lot of layers. Make sure you don't go over the end with the knot! Let it dry for about 24 hours then you can pop the balloon.

After you pop the balloon cut the ball of paper mache in half. This will give you two halves, one which you can use as the mask and another for extra parts! Decorate and have fun with it! You can use paint, beads, glitter, or anything else you might like!
And if you don't want to do that, felt is always a good substitute for a mask as well! :)

Happy October! ((^.^))

Confused, but hopeful!

Sorry it's been a while since I have written. I guess i've just been busy with school and things. I had my first exam last week, but i think I did well! A+

In other news, i'm trying to write about what's going on and get to some of your interests, but i've been getting no feedback. Perhaps I should stretch myself out more on the interwebs. But, how do you reach more people? I've also added some links to the page, for your entertainment of course!

Another update, i've been on a Harry Potter kick again! Ever since I heard, JK Rowling is writing the screen play for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." :) Currently my mission is to order a Gryfindor shirt off Amazon. I have to support the love for the books I grew up with!

In addition, i'm also excited for King Richard's Faire next weekend! It's been a while since i've done something fun, so i'm definitely looking forward to it! Oh and I have the best boyfriend since he splurged a bit and got me a set of ears and a tail! ^, ^

Harry Potter lives on? Is this true JK Rowling?

Rowling says it is and has decided to give more to her fans and the magic world in which she created. Though the adventures of Harry himself are over, JK Rowling signed with Warner Bros to continue the franchise with the story of fictitious author Newt Scamander and his novel, Harry's textbook, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!" So the magic lives on, don't believe me? Here's the story, check it out for yourself!

Also, here's a pretty cool site for some unpublished pictures (if you're interested)!  Prepare your wands and brooms!

The internet is sneaking into my life again!

Well a quick update on all things school... it's going well. I'm currently preparing for a big semester. There's gonna be a lot of reading, but I know i'll definitely learn a lot that's for sure. And at the very least my teachers are all interesting which makes for a fun semester. I'm going to try and keep up with this and maybe try some new things! I really wanna get more people involved, but idk how to do that. =(

Update 2: As if i don't spend enough time on the internet as is, I decided to get a Tumblr! and I must say I LOVE IT! It's a nifty little way of connecting to some different blogs and blogging in a different way than on blogger. I'm thinking at some point I may also try Stumbleupon and punterest but i'm not too sure yet. We'll have to see where things take me!

Update 3: LIBRARIES!

I forgot they existed for a while there, but boy am I glad I was reunited. I borrowed some books a few weeks ago and I am happy to report that my thirst for adventure is growing! I still don't think anything tops my excitement quite as much as a library full of old books!

New Batman

So it's been in the news the past few weeks as a big debate! Will he or will he not be a good batman! This blog (http://www.worldofsuperheroes.com/columnists/why-ben-affleck-should-not-be-batman-by-joe-solomon/) states reasons why NOT... and this one states (http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2013/08/24/6-reasons-the-internet-is-wrong-about-ben-affleck-as-batman/)  reasons why he will be GOOD.... but what do you think? :)

ilikedorkystuff.r.us

Sometimes in life we realize there are just some things which are cool to have! Last post i wrote about the top ten. :) There is of course also ThinkGeek. I had forgotten about it until I was browsing earlier. Today I wanted to share with you some of those nerdy collections...

1) https://pinterest.com/sixbubbles/nerdy-nerd-nerd/

What do you think? I gotta say i'm in love with some of the stuff on this board!

2)http://gizmodo.com/5350774/10-of-your-most-obsessively-nerdy-collections/
Pretty insane huh? Do any of you have nerdy collections?

and other times you just find things like this

3) https://pinterest.com/rbrick12/dork/

which remind you why you love being a dork! Maybe I should create a pinterest of all the neat photos i've found!

Sometimes you can even find some things you yourself will want. Here's something else i've added to my list:

Here's my top ten!

Some of the best places around for nerdy things :) (aside from conventions) Here's my top ten list!

1) FYE- The store deals primarily with entertainment products such as selling, buying, and trading CDs, Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, video games, and books. It's also over time become home to a small section of nerdy t-shirts, belts, wallets, and anime.

2) Gamestop- Best to keep up in the video game world! This is where I recently purchased my DS lite! Gamestop is an entertainment software retailer. In addition to video and computer games, they also sell strategy guides and magazines!

3) Toy Vault- Home to many geeky things, Toy Vault is the manufacturer of plush toys, board games trading cards, action figures, comics, and other novelty items.

4) Newbury Comics- home to all pop culture-related goods, comics, posters, T-shirts, trading cards, action figures, buttons, sports merchandise, jewelry, cosmetics, novelties and more. It's pretty much everything in one store!

5) Amazon.com- Chances are if you can't find it or even if you can Amazon sells it. It's the world's largest retailer and offers great prices on both new and old merchandise. Plus it's great for all everyday things, even our college textbooks! What's not to love!?

6) Etsy- This is an online site for homemade, vintage, art, and craft supplies, but I've found that if you look you can find some of the neatest things geek related and they are definitely one of a kind!

7) Barnes and Nobles- BOOKS! BOOKS! BOOKS! And who doesn't love a good read every now and then? :) Plus they have a selection of CDs and some unique items related to our favorite books and movies such as the Harry Potter Cookbook.

8) Crafts stores- great for those who like to Cosplay and make their own costumes!

9) Bestbuy- great for technology and electronic needs, especially computers for those online Gamers!

10) Shades Plus (Thayer Street)- it's just home to some of those hard to find toys from our youth. Even if you don't plan on buying something, you really can't walk into it and not leave with something! ♥

Also, check it out => I've added some new links!

Monday, July 22, 2013

So I know it's been a while and I am sorry. I've been super busy! Anyways I'm looking into getting a DS lite! :) If anyone knows a place I'd appreciate some feedback. I'm already looking into Gamestop and Toy Vault and I don't have an Ebay account. But hopefully I can still find something. Wish me luck! I'll have a new blog post soon.

To art or not to art? That is the question!

I think I will just leave this here... :)

Are video games art?

What are your opinions? I personally think they are. Just look at how the graphics have changed over time and the creativity that goes into the images. And here are five more reasons according to Cracked. com why video games can be classified as high art: http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-things-video-games-do-better-than-any-other-forms-art/  Go on find out for yourself...

Now, what are your thoughts?

Hello? Yes, I'm here!! :)

Cute new things I wanna add to my dork collection

So I've been trying to find some little odds and ends for my collection of dorky kinds... currently i'm looking to add one of these little necklaces to my collection... what do you think? Isn't it adorable? I have to say I fell in love with the different types the girl makes. I've got my heart set on an Eevee.

I also decided that these little earrings are quite inspiring... to reach new heights and levels that is and to challenge your train of thinking. After all who doesn't love the logic behind the game? Now if only that cake weren't a lie. :)

Here's another bite of something neat and fantastic! Anyone who knows me knows that Pac Man is one of my all time favorite arcade games! Well what isn't to love about this stylish necklace? Another must have on my list.  I'm slowly starting to realize the online world can be a girls best friend for fashion accessories! OM NOM NOM

And when we take a turn into a land of imagination and magic where else do we land, but eventually Hogwarts? I mean let's face it we're all still waiting on that letter... in the meantime though this is a cute way to show off your lessons... accio wire wrap ring!

Of course if you're going anywhere you're gonna need to sport some new kicks! and what better way to do it than with the red converse shoes made popular by our tenth doctor!?

And of course there is always the go to graphic tee, which I am also still on the verge of creating my collection to be!Aside from B-MO, who is on my list, who else do you think I should get?

Opportunities

I just wanted to take this time to think about opportunity and what it means. Defined it reads (as a noun) a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. But rather I think it is a matter of deciding what you want and then creating chances. Lately that's what i've been thinking about. What to do with my life, how to do it, etc. It's not easy, but I think i'm slowly getting on my feet...

First thing is first
1) research
2) explore
3) apply and committ
4) take action

Next i'll be on my way to full time adulthood... let's just hope I don't lose any of myself along the way. I like being fun! ^_^

P.S. within the next few days i'll have another post up, so be on the lookout. TTFN

What's new, TV?

So my new MUST watch TV show is fun & educational. It's on the National Geographic Channel and it examines the secrets of the human mind. I have learned quite a bit from it and highly recommend it, especially if you love Science or knowing more about the way our brains work and function. A few years ago I did a project on Memory and being a Sociology major and a psychology minor, I naturally have a curiosity for the why and how. It also challenges you to think and sets up a series of games for us to play.

Check it out and let me know what you think?

Suggestions?

So I think I might be getting back into the D&D realm soon! I must say I am excited. So far I know I wanna be a druid and make my character part fox. I want her to be close with nature and animals as I am! :) That means, that I will soon have to create yet another lovely cosplay. I'm currently in the midst of finding a corset for TempleCon and King Richard's Faire. And I'm working on Medli. (from Wind Waker) and some of the characters from Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors for the next comic book convention. If any one has any input on props or supplies, or wants to give me some idea... I'd love to hear from you all!

In other news, my Yu-Gi-Oh deck and progress in Pokémon have gotten better. I'm so glad to be enjoying some of the nerdy things I once enjoyed as a kid. I even started watching Card Captor Sakura again. At some point I'd love to create all the Clow cards! Any one else feeling nostalgic?

 Quite Contrary

P.S. I feel like a crafts store and online shopping would be my best bet- anyone know anything relatively close and cheap aside from Michaels?

Some video game flash backs!

So I decided to go back in time and play some old games. I started with Pokémon leaf green! I must say that it is quite interesting to be playing these games especially since growing up the only Gameboy games I owned were Pokémon Yellow. And even these are vastly different. There is an option to be a girl and the Pokémon you start with is not handed to you, but rather you get to choose as if you were actually going on an adventure yourself. I also still wanna catch a Mew! <3

I also find it interesting that the systems are so vastly different. I always thought that the only way i'd ever be able to play them was if I bought the old systems, but I have found that the Gameboy Advance SP is quite the nifty thing to have. It offers a back light and an option to play all the Gameboy games including, Gameboy Advanced and Gameboy Color. I'm definitely looking into it now! :) And of course if you have a DS you can play the GBA games too! So as far as handhelds are concerned I'd say it's a way to go!

The next thing I wanna try is the GameCube and Game Boy Advance Connection. Supposedly, the way it worked was that, using specially written software, developers were able to make the Game Cube and the Game Boy Advance so that they could communicate with each other. This connectivity was featured in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, allowing players, using the Tingle Tuner, to get information on the different islands, collect Tingle statues, and get advice on how to solve dungeon puzzles. I think it was also featured in PacMan Vs. I just think it would be quite a different gaming experience. =]

Also, do you remember Rareware? They partnered up with Nintendo, until 2000, to create video games such as Donkey kong 64, the banjo kazooie series, jet force gemini, and star fox adventures.Well I decided to play Banjo-Kazooie again! I must say the soundtrack and the game play made me realize why I fell in love with the game as a kid. Were there any games like this for you?

And of course, I started playing the Sega games as well. I can't get enough of that little hedgehog and his foxy sidekick, Tails! I love how the games just generally get faster and harder as you play them. That's one of the main difficulties it proposed. I think Tetris is actually known for that. Needless to say, i'm having fun and remembering why I fell in love with the classics.

Just In Sight

So I went on a college tour yesterday and I must say I am pretty darn excited! It feels great to know that I finally have a direction and a goal that I am aspiring to and achieving! I'm also on vacation now and am taking this as an opportunity to enjoy some new things. I have a show coming up in a few weeks, I've been practicing with taking photos at different viewpoints and angles, and I even was a part of a music video! ^_^  For now it seems things are on a good track. Now if only I could land a job!

Be sure to keep an eye on the blog page. I know it's been a week, but I've got some more ideas for posts brewing!

Wii yes... or Wii no?

So the Wii U came out a few months ago back in November and it was the talk of the video game news for quite some time. I had the opportunity to see what it was like this past weekend, a few months after it's release, so here is my review! :) Personally I thought it was pretty cool. It kind of ties social media into one with the video games.

For starters it is HD, which brings it up to par with Xbox and Playstation! It also has a single controller, which offers a new experience to gaming. It also connects to and tracks videos and TV shows, so you can use the Wii U as a control for all your video experiences. It's kind of like the Wii, a TV remote, and DS in one!

Upon downloading the updates for the versions you also get all the old game favorites, such as Kirby’s Adventure, Donkey Kong Jr., Ice Climber, F-Zero, and Super Mario World. There are also of course some new favorites such as Game&Wario and Zombi U and it is compatible with most games from the Wii system itself!

Virtually it could be the next best thing. Though some say it could be the nail in the coffin for Nintendo. Do you think Nintendo has followed up with what it promised to deliver? Do you think it is an innovative system console? Share your ideas!
Here's what some of the reviews say!! ^

Oh the things you can do with duct tape!

So we've all heard that duct tape is a good fix for a lot of things, but did you know that you can have some fun with it too! There are so many different patterns and colors in stores, it's kind of hard not to have a little fun! Here is a list of some of my favorite things to do with duct tape and some things that I would like to try! Remember it's your style, so make it as wild and creative as you would like!

1) The Duct Tape Bow

This is a creative way to add a little fun and a splash of color to any outfit. How can you not love it? They are easy to make too! You start with two pieces and stick them together sticky side first. Then you fold them like you would fold a paper fan, pinch the middle and add a small strip to make it stay. I have over a dozen of these little bows in my drawer and I want to make so many more! :)
2) Duct Tape Roses

The first time I made these I thought it would take me forever, but it went much quicker than I had thought. These make a great gift or act as a simple way to decorate a room! They also give freedom to creativity since every flower is different. A rose, by any other name would still be as sweet, but these are definitely still pretty cool!

3) Duct Tape Earrings

Now these, I've never made, but I really want to! I think they are cute and a creative way to take an everyday piece of jewelery and make it unique. With so many patterns and colors, the possibilities are endless.

4) Duct Tape Wallet

Now these are fun and neat, not to mention very handy! We all need somewhere to put our money when we go out, after all, so why not show off your nerdiness with a homemade wallet! These are the Ninja Turtles, but if your taste is cute or classy you can do that too! There's also freedom to the number of pockets you can include and what you want the layout to be. I've made some just to hold my cards. Pretty much it's your ideal wallet, made for your needs, you just have to put it together!

5) Key Chain Strap

Now this is a pretty neat idea I'd like to try! I happened to stumble across it online one day. It'd definitely make finding my keys a lot easier if I had a wrist thing to keep them together. What is even more neat about this is you can also add an individual touch of duct tape to each one of your keys, making it easier to determine which key is for which lock! And it's cheap, YES please!

These are only a few of the select things you can do with duct tape. You can also make belts, ties, flip flops, and purses too! I know for Halloween I used duct tape to make the purse for my cosplay and last year I made my own strap belt! I've even known some people to decorate a bring pair of boots with the weather resistant tape.

Fun fact: did you know, there is even a scholarship event where you can make prom dresses, shoes, and tuxes out of tape. Definitely a must see if you ever get the chance! ^, ^

The Summer Scoop

With summer just around the corner it's hard to think of anything, but the long stress free nights we will have to do fun things. There is just one more week left of exams and then we're home free for a couple of months. I don't know about you, but I sure am excited. For me it means some of my favorite things get to happen! :)

1) Pictures of  all the ADVENTURES! Yay!! Yeah, I am one of those girls who loves her camera. I carry it with me in my purse, so I have it wherever I may go and if ever I need it! I also like to document everything. Give me a camera and I can be occupied for hours! I think it is so neat how you can capture an image with just the click of a button. My pictures remind me of the good times that can be had, the friends who mean the most to me, and the many more places I want to see!

2) S'mores by the fire! These have always been my favorite camp fire treats. I don't know how you can have a camp fire and not have S'mores to eat too! I love the melt in your mouth chocolate, the warm toasty marshmallow and the crunchy bits of graham cracker in every bite.Throw in the hotdogs and it's sure to be an even tastier night! Not to mention camp fires mean sitting with those you love and sharing events of the day and telling stories.

3) Later nights and no schedules. Yep that's right... FREEDOM!!! Freedom to stay up and have sleep overs till the early hours of the morning and sleep in late the next day. Freedom to have dance parties, paint nails, hang up pictures all over the wall, and do arts and crafts! Freedom to fill our bowls to the top with frozen yogurt, chocolate pieces, and fresh fruit. Freedom to draw with side walk chalk and make a giant game of hopscotch, or blow bubbles and try to pop them. Freedom to play and read a book outside under the trees. And more importantly freedom to relax! I always think embracing your inner child makes everything just a little more fun!

4) Lemonade by the pool.I love lemonade. It's refreshing and light and tastes absolutely amazing! I especially love it by the pool, when you can sit in the warm sun, have a casual sip, and just take everything in. Not to mention the occasional splash on a hot day really cools you off! Plus there are so many games you can play. I personally enjoy the occasional water balloon fights!

5) Hula Hoops. Okay so yeah, you can use them really anytime, but for me the nice weather brings more opportunities to freshen up and refine my skills. I love turning on the music and just going with the beat! I love perfecting and working on new skills and I love that everyone always seems fascinated. There's just something about it. And it's the one thing that I think aside from randomly dancing that I enjoy doing because it makes me feel pretty. I think every girl deserves to do something that makes her feel pretty. They are even fun to make! ♡

And here's what I see in the future...

As the weeks of school are drawing to an end I have been wondering what I should do with my blog. Last time I had a blog, I stopped working on it, but this time I think I wanna keep it going. The world can always use a few more dorks and nerds on the internet right? =)

I've changde up my look a little bit and tried to make it easier to access some of the links. I'm also adding some personality and I really want to make it as much of a home to you as well.

Anyways, this blog is to ask what you would want to see? Leave a comment! I'm always excited to hear what you have to say!

10 Things a 90s kid will always remember!

Ah, to live the weekends of Saturday Morning Cartoons! Remember waking up to those? You, 9AM, a bowl of cereal, half asleep in your PJs, sitting too close to the TV? The days of Recess, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, PowerPuff Girls, Pepper Ann, Doug, Dexter's Lab, Animaniacs and so many other great long forgotten shows. That's definitely something I can't forget! :) And every time I think about it I am suddenly reminded of the past. Here is a list of just some of those things, us 90s kids will never forget.

And what about the wave craze for Nanopets and the infamous Tamagotchi? You know the handheld digital pets that chirped for our attention. We would play with them, feed them, and give them names! I know I must have had at least five myself growing up!

Then of course there were the other toys we had to have like tech decks, koosh balls and trolls. They seem so silly and simple now, but just like the silly band craze of today these were the have to have finds!

Koosh balls were made out of rubber bands, and named "Koosh" because that's the sound it made when it landed. They came in so many different colors and some of them even had faces and feet. Tech Decks were fingerboards, about 1:8 scaled, of a skateboard that "rides" by replicating skateboarding maneuvers with their hand. Trolls were cute, cuddly, neon-haired pot-bellied figure plastic dolls with big hair. They came with clothes and accessories. They populated video games and TV shows too. I have a huge box in my basement full of them. I loved those crazy little things!

Snap bracelets were also popular. They made a great addition to any goody bags! They are straight like a ruler and to put them on you simply slap them against your wrist and they curl. The bracelet was banned in several schools following reports of injuries stemming from improper use, but I believe they were introduced somewhat later.

Another thing that was all the craze were Beanie Babies. When I first started growing my collection, I was attracted to Beanie Babies because they were cute, cuddly, little stuffed animals. Because there was such a variety of animals to choose from, the creatures appealed to everyone. Even adults joined in on the craze. I remember my grandmother collected all of them and they are in display in the games room at her house. In my opinion, that’s a sign of a very successful marketing effort.

Another big things, most of us girls will probably remember, are the butterfly clips with moveable wings. They stopped making them, but they had a variety of colors and patterns. Some were even super glittery. I bring mine out every now and then to add a uniqueness to any fairy costume.

Back to School for me meant Lisa Frank. And that is not a person's name, but rather the brand. Full
of colorful dolphins, neon leopards, jewel-encrusted frogs, and rainbow unicorns in acid-trip colors. For us, if you didn't have Lisa Frank, you weren't cool. I had folders, stickers, and notebooks. My favorite were the dogs Casey and Caymus.

Gimp was a plastic coated string. Many of us enjoyed using these strings to make jewelry. The two most common types of designs used were the box and the butterfly. I even used gimp in my bead creations. I remember my cousin and I used to sit on the steps outside making all these little beaded things. Similar to this were perler beads. You used to use multicolored, soft plastic beads and you would place them on pegged plates to form designs, shapes and characters. Then you would use an iron to melt and fuse the beads together.

Another thing, we pretty much all remember are warheads. They were extremely sour then sweet little candies you could suck. A driving force behind the candy's popularity were informal competitions among schoolchildren to determine who could withstand eating the largest number of Warheads at once. Growing up we used to walk over to the video store and we would buy these as a treat for the walk home.

And finally is Sega and all other incorporating video games. I personally had the Sega Genesis handheld! Sega previously developed and manufactured its own brand of home video game consoles from 1983 to 2001. Sega was home to such video games as Sonic the Hedgehog, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Taz-mania! Sega even had to create the first content rating system for video games since there was controversy over some of the games in the system. It was later bought out by Nintendo, another popular industry.
