What happened to my sanity?

Life! It comes and goes as it may, but I swear i'm living in the same day over and over again.

Time passes infinitely slow. I can't remember who I am anymore.
The days just seem to connect from one to the next!

Is this how it's supposed to be? When will I find my sanity?

I swear one morning I woke up and was deemed unworthy! No more boys, no more happiness, no more friends
but that's just how the story mends
no more support, just the struggle to know what was real.

What once started out as a classroom thing... has now turned into this mindless game, an experiment to say the same.

Daily postings are no more, but still my heart she loves to pour- here @ some space to think, surely you stumbled across my link.

Hoping to spark some CREATIVE juices

I've been thinking a lot about creativity lately! What exactly it means to be creative, who dictates what is creative, and if creativity can mean different things. I found this article which I think is kind of  cool, so i'm going to share it here... http://lateralaction.com/what-is-creativity/

The question on graduate school rings even louder in my head! There's so many things to do and I have so much experience.. what's acceptable and what's not? Am I really ready to take the risk?

I love to help and be involved! That's a fact! I always have and always will! And I adore children and animals! Put me with a child and I just light up! I join in on the play and escape to a fantasy world where once I used to spend all my time. Put me with a child, and suddenly I'm the best singer in the world or I can dance on the moon! I have no fear! This is who I am!

It's funny how as we grow older we lose the insight of what matters most. I'm stuck, the articles don't seem to be helping! I wish I could hit the enter key and have all the answers laid out in front of me...

Long Overdue Update 1: A Great Idea

So it's been a while since I've been on here and blogged for you all! I know, I know... it's disappointing, but i've been super busy! So here's an update: I now have a fun and awesome job at Providence Children's Museum. :) It's a really great opportunity to learn about and work with children! I'm involved in the Head Start Program, Scouts Programs, and even Museum Enrichment projects- all of which will give me experience and help to build my resume!

 Play is so important! So why not make it a part of your lives too?

As a member of the Head Start Team, we had to write a book, and create a song/chant for the children in the local school areas! We go into the classrooms and we do what is called PVOs (pre-visit Orientations) to get them excited about the museum and our year with them! We then work on CA-1s and CA-2s (classroom activities) in which we are going to be teaching about problem solving. The overall experience, thus far, has been nothing shy of lots of work, but also fun and exciting! It's great to see how much the children have learned even in the few weeks we've worked with them.

This post is to share a video- that inspired me and opened my eyes to just how much the simple things can be! It also inspired some parts of our book for the classrooms. It was shared by a staff member at the museum and
it has become a personal part of how I play guide and therefore important!

My submission to the hooping academy! :)

One of my favorite things to do is hula hoop. Hooping incorporates every inch of your body- from your arms, head, and hands to your chest, knees, and feet.  In this short 500 words, I am going to try and discuss what hooping means to me, why teachingkidstohoop.com has become a huge part of my life, and the great joy of that circle free-flowing around your waist. 

When I first picked up a hoop two years ago I didn’t imagine it would have the impact on me that it did. I lacked confidence and a voice that allowed me to stand my ground. More importantly I lacked the ability to see things outside of the box. But when I picked up the hoop I felt pretty and I was motivated to learn more. Everything I learned I learned from a few friends at our schools circus club.  It was a group open to people of ALL skill levels, a way to connect with your inner child, and a new found talent. It challenged me to step outside of my comfort zone and see the hoop as an extension of the body. 

That is, it increases the angle between body parts, and thus you must move together. Executing the tricks takes practice, but also consideration of timing. You have to be aware of your surroundings and also of the open space within the hoop. For instance, if you are trying to do a basic spin around the waist and you hula too early (or too late) you lose control of the hoop. 

For me this was the next big thing. I not only learned how to do basic hula hooping, but also to control the hoop and use it as a prop, rather than just a toy. It became my best friend, a way for me to relieve stress, and a way to change the inner demons in my head. I would go almost everywhere with a hoop- even class. Eventually my hoops even had a permanent seat in the back of my car.

Hooping Academy would allow me to have the freedom to take my hooping to the next level. I have taught a few classes and watched as shy girls (and boys) gain confidence in their abilities. For me there is nothing more rewarding than that. Hooping makes me feel good, and I want to be able to share that same feeling with others. Even making hoops is a creative process I highly enjoy! J Each hoop after all, is as unique as the person who uses it.

Hoops can even be used within the classroom to teach teamwork, cooperation, movement, cognition, and more.  I feel they are just as much a part of what makes me who I am as the clothes that I wear and the shoes on my feet.

Finally!

So let me just start this post off with saying that Idina Menzel is one cool girl! :) And for those of you who do not know, she has the most beautiful voice I think I have ever heard. I am currently obsessed with the new Disney movie Frozen and she plays Elsa. It's absolutely stunning the emotion she brings to the character.

The story line itself is definitely not something familiar with Disney. Here's a link I can share with some of the many reasons why... and I completely agree, it has been nominated as BEST ANIMATED this and that...

In addition, how can you just not love a good Disney movie... whether it be a classic tale as old as time or a new tale you can't help but fall in love with?

What makes it even cooler, is that Frozen is rumored to be going to Broadway and is airing a special Sing-A-Long version in select theaters across the nation! :)

Additionally, Idina also played the original Elphaba in Wicked. Though I never saw that show, I did however, have the honor of seeing the show (whilst on tour) at PPAC this past month. The cast was brilliant and I fell in love with the set and the story (by Gregory Maguire) I once read.

 It takes place in Munchkinland far before Dorothy arrives and explains the friendship between Glinda (formerly Galinda) and Elphaba. It really changes your perspective on things. Is Elphaba really as "wicked" as they say she is?

Hello, hello my old friends, I have not forgotten you!

So tumblr is a thing and it's amazing! :) I love the fact that I can find so many of my favorite categories simply by browsing a bunch of blogs! I definitely recommend it! Secondly, Stumble Upon... pros and cons? Let me know as I am considering one! Thirdly, I've been super busy with exams and classes so I apologize for not posting in some time. I'm nearing graduation though! YAY!!!

ALSO Halloween is almost here!! I have some plans and what about you!? What are you going to dress up as!? Personally, I want to do something related to Alice in Wonderland! Perhaps Miss Mad Hatter! Or Alice from Alice Madness! Or maybe the Cheshire cat!  Oh and I want an Unbirthday Cake! #AliceObsessed

Hello, I'm Autumn! :)

So it's been a little bit since i've posted and I apologize, but sometimes life just seems to get busy! The good news is I have a new blog post for you! YAY! :)

This is some crafty things to do in the fall!

First, Pumpkin Carving! And what's not to love about this nifty little art. Not to mention you can turn it into a jack-o-lantern and light up the night! And if you are in RI, or nearby you should totally check out the Roger Williams Park event, PUMPKIN SPOOKTACULAR! It's breathtaking!

 Second, Fall Leaf Flowers! This one is simple, and fun. First go outside and grab some leaves! Then wrap them around each other until you make a flower shape! Then secure them with a stem made of duct tape! They are pretty and they smell nice!








Third, Creature Masks! With Halloween just around the corner these are fun and bring out the imaginative side. Simply blow up a balloon to the size of your head. Then wrap the balloon with strips of paper mache. I suggest going around it three times so that there are a lot of layers. Make sure you don't go over the end with the knot! Let it dry for about 24 hours then you can pop the balloon.

After you pop the balloon cut the ball of paper mache in half. This will give you two halves, one which you can use as the mask and another for extra parts! Decorate and have fun with it! You can use paint, beads, glitter, or anything else you might like!
And if you don't want to do that, felt is always a good substitute for a mask as well! :)

Confused, but hopeful!

Sorry it's been a while since I have written. I guess i've just been busy with school and things. I had my first exam last week, but i think I did well! A+

In other news, i'm trying to write about what's going on and get to some of your interests, but i've been getting no feedback. Perhaps I should stretch myself out more on the interwebs. But, how do you reach more people? I've also added some links to the page, for your entertainment of course!

 Another update, i've been on a Harry Potter kick again! Ever since I heard, JK Rowling is writing the screen play for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." :) Currently my mission is to order a Gryfindor shirt off Amazon. I have to support the love for the books I grew up with!

In addition, i'm also excited for King Richard's Faire next weekend! It's been a while since i've done something fun, so i'm definitely looking forward to it! Oh and I have the best boyfriend since he splurged a bit and got me a set of ears and a tail! ^, ^

Harry Potter lives on? Is this true JK Rowling?

Rowling says it is and has decided to give more to her fans and the magic world in which she created. Though the adventures of Harry himself are over, JK Rowling signed with Warner Bros to continue the franchise with the story of fictitious author Newt Scamander and his novel, Harry's textbook, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!" So the magic lives on, don't believe me? Here's the story, check it out for yourself!

The internet is sneaking into my life again!

Well a quick update on all things school... it's going well. I'm currently preparing for a big semester. There's gonna be a lot of reading, but I know i'll definitely learn a lot that's for sure. And at the very least my teachers are all interesting which makes for a fun semester. I'm going to try and keep up with this and maybe try some new things! I really wanna get more people involved, but idk how to do that. =(

Update 2: As if i don't spend enough time on the internet as is, I decided to get a Tumblr! and I must say I LOVE IT! It's a nifty little way of connecting to some different blogs and blogging in a different way than on blogger. I'm thinking at some point I may also try Stumbleupon and punterest but i'm not too sure yet. We'll have to see where things take me!


Update 3: LIBRARIES!

I forgot they existed for a while there, but boy am I glad I was reunited. I borrowed some books a few weeks ago and I am happy to report that my thirst for adventure is growing! I still don't think anything tops my excitement quite as much as a library full of old books!

Back to School

Back to school means back to tests and papers, long nights of studying and homework. Within the next few days, i'll have an update on my first week and maybe some tips! Keep an eye out for them! ;)
